People always ask us, "So, what are the effects of pornography." It's true that pornography doesn't share the same effects on the body as does heroin or cocaine and therefore, it's more difficult to pinpoint what those effects really are. Although there are actual physical effects to the brain they are not noticeable to the eye like the effects of cigarettes (smell, yellow teeth, etc.). The effects of pornography reveal themselves far more in our behaviors and how those behaviors affect our lives. It's also not an easy question to answer in that the results vary from person to person. For example, to say that pornography causes divorce would be a stretch. To say that pornography increases your chances of divorce due to its effects would be more accurate. You see, divorce is a result of the effects, not an effect by itself. Things like gender objectification, depression, moral deterioration and shame play a role in a relationship being damaged. Many who have had pornography negatively affect their relationships would fully agree that it does more harm than good in a relationship. According to a recent survey over 50 percent of divorces involve one party having an obsessive interest in pornographic websites.
So, to truly understand the effects of pornography we have to look at how it is changing our perceptions, attitudes and ultimately, our behaviors. We've created an image that highlights just a few of the major effects of pornography....
